Hasan Darvishvand the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran at Quetta in an official three-day visit to Gwadar on February 24th - 26th, 2023 called on high ranking authorities of this region including Mr. Pasand Khan Buledidi, Chairman Gwadar Port Authority, Mujibur Rahman Qambrani, Director General Gwadar Development Authority, Ezzat Nazir Baloch, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar, Shahid Ali Abbasi, Additional Collector Customs Gwadar and Shamsul Haq Kalmati, President Gwadar Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The authorities briefed him on various ongoing development projects and Gwadar Master Plan and appreciated supply of 100 MW electricity to this region by the Iranian government and emphasized on necessity of official visits and exchange of delegations between Chabahar and Gwadar ports authorities.
The Consul General underscored the potential of the two countries in meeting each other's needs and announced Iran's readiness to cooperate with Pakistan in energy sector. He emphasized on increasing the volume of trade exchange to $5B annually and stated that the capacities of the two countries are much higher that the annual trade target of $5B is very low. Strengthening bilateral cooperation between Chabahar and Gwadar ports is in the interest of both countries and would lead to the development and growth of economy on a large scale in the region. By connecting these two ports, the two countries can be connected to Central Asia, Europe, Mediterranean, Africa and many Persian Gulf countries through road and railway lines. He welcomed the exchange of official delegations between Chabahar and Gwadar ports saying that “our bilateral relations should be a role model”.
Later the Consul General along with businessmen and other officials of Gwadar visited Joint Border Market, FIA, Customs and Rahdari gate at Gabd-Rimdan 250 border. In meeting with the president Gwadar Chamber of Commerce, he assured to provide further facilities for tourists, pilgrims and people residing in border area and resolve the complains of business community.
